Wine Tasting at Seidelberg

Craig & Christof from the UK advised me they were looking to increase their knowledge not only of South African wines but of wine in general.
The cellar tour at Seidelberg wine estate was the ideal place to start. Catherine explained the process of making both white and red wines. Their eyes widened with interest as they saw the red wine fermentation in the open tanks. The aromas from a working cellar during the harvest – they were now eager to begin their tasting.
Out on the lawn over looking the valley, Craig and Christof admired the views while Catherine organised a selection of wines for tasting. They were surprised that they were able to taste the differences between un-wooded wines and wines which had spent a range of time in French oak barrels. The real eye opener came when trying the Roland’s Reserve Syrah. Both agreed it was the favourite.
“I can’t believe how much goes into making a bottle of wine” exclaims Christof. Now hooked on learning more about wine he said he would be signing up for a wine course when he returns home.
