Mike & Kristi were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary so it was important to me that their tour would be a memorable experience. Emphasis was on wine education as they were travelling with their children Matthew and Malorie, who were keen to absorb as much knowledge from the day as possible.
Deirdre hosted a detailed tour through the cellar. Little is happening this time of year but seeing the equipment involved gives a great insight into what goes into a bottle of wine.
With reds as their preference Deirdre presented the Seidelberg and Roland’s Reserve ranges side by side. Pinotage was their favourite. Mike said “you can clearly see the influence of quality grapes and oak barrels on the final bottle of wine”. They felt that the Seidelberg Pinotage would be great for everyday drinking and the Roland’s Reserve Pinotage for special occasions.
Malorie has a young palate so Deirdre selected a special tasting of sweeter wines. The Nuance, Stein and Golden Harvest, each one getting sweeter and more enjoyed by Malorie!
